South West Rocks Report

Hot action off the rocks and on the reefs!

South West Rocks Report

Most of last week the Bar was a mongrel to get over with conditions outside good once you get out. No Mackerel to report of the northern reefs but some nice reef fish like Snapper, Pearl Perch, Trag and Jew were on the bite. The FAD had some smaller Dolphin Fish coming in but it’s hardly worth there trip out. There were a few Cobia caught through the week with the best weighed in at the shop going 22kg off Sea Scout Charters. Talior have been trolled up in front of the Gaol Down to Green Island. There were no reports from Fish Rock through the week.

Bream are everywhere in the river at the moment but catching a legal one is tough. One or two Blackfish have been caught along the walls and the Back Creek let’s hope a week or so and we see the travellers come in the river in droves. Some nice Flathead are being caught on the drift using fish bait and Plastics. We should see some Jew action this week after the moon.

Rock Hoppers are hooking Tailor up to 2 kilo off the ledges with plenty of Tarwin and the odd Blackfish and Drummer. The Lighthouse ledges have had a few nice Jew Fish and Tailor caught. There has been a fair swell on the beaches but Smoky has been producing some Bream, Whiting and nice Tailor early in the day.

Take care on the bars
