Nambucca Set to go for Christmas
With the wet weather now blown over, 4WDers and campers have their sights firmly set on where to head for the Christmas break.
For those keen to drop a line, the Nambucca area is a dead-set winner. You can access the enormous stretch of beach between Scotts Head and Nambucca via the northern end of the main beach, which can be accessed by South Pacific Dr.
Nambucca Shire Council Director of Engineering says all anglers, recreational or commercial, must display a beach driving permit for the Nambucca Valley. This includes Scotts Head, Nambucca, Valla Beach and Swimming Creek.
The stretch between Scotts Head and Nambucca is popular towards the south, and some people do wander north towards the 4WD beach access point, so keep your eyes peeled.
If you continue to drive all the way along the beach, you get to the inlet of the Nambucca River. Snapper are common in the reefs near Scotts Head, and whiting and jewfish swarm around the estuaries near here.
But if the fish aren’t biting, why not head out to Australia’s 4WDing capital, the Coffs Coast, for a day trip?
Where are you heading this Christmas?
