Casting Towards Tomorrow
The future of recreational fishing lies in the hands of the younger generation.
“Casting Towards Tomorrow – Keeping Australia Fishing”, this is the key theme of the National Recreation Fishing Conference to be held on the 17th – 19th August 2012. As the name suggests the aim of the conference is to develop the new generation of fishos and get them enthusiastic about the sport of recreational fishing.
Recfish Australia Chairman, Russell Conway said, “We are keen to understand and promote the role of recreational fishing in contributing to the health and well being of Australian society. This and the economic contribution of fishing, especially to regional communities, often gets overlooked in debates about fishing."
The conference will feature a number of keynote speakers who will highlight the need invest in the future of recreational fishing by investing in the young kids who will eventually be responsible for the industry’s future.
This is crucial for the sport, not only to promote and get more people into fishing, but to help sustain over 90,000 jobs in the industry.
The conference will also feature a fishing competition which will run prior to the event and will also allow access to the Australian Fishing Tackle and Trade Show.
